Location
Nestling in the spice hills and quiet estates, Neelambari is set in 110 acres with spectacular views of surrounding natural forests, mountains and valleys. It is the ideal getaway to an unspoilt part of North Kerala, with proximity to beaches, backwaters whilst being tucked away in the mountains!
If there is a simple remedy from the heat and humidity of the plains, this is where you ought to come, where the air is cool and pure, life is superbly comfortable yet simple and there seems to be an excess of all the good things!
Concept
The essence of Neelambari is wellness of body, mind and soul .People are encouraged to get away from an over-worked and hectic lifestyle or the rigours of the office; to come and de-stress by feeling one with nature, indulging in yoga, ayurvedic massages or spa treatments.
Accessibility
By Air: To Mangalore from Mumbai and Bangalore followed by a 2 hour drive to the Resort.
By Road: From Bangalore (330 Km), Calicut (185 kms) and Mangalore (120 kms)
By Train: From Goa (approx 8 hours overnight journey), Cochin, Chennai, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Being on the Konkan route, there are train connections from all major metropolitan cities of Northern India. Arrive in Kanhangad followed by a 45 minute drive to the Resort.
Transfers: The Resort is happy to arrange transfers from station/ airport at additional cost.
Accommodation
The Resort accommodates its guests in its 16 traditional Kerala style cottages. The rooms are large, furnished to high standards with its own dressing room/ washroom facilities and opens into its own private veranda and garden overlooking the mountains and the forests! One can simple laze around with a book or simply enjoy being so close to nature! The rooms do not have Televisions or CD players. There are showers rather than bath tubs in each room. Hair dryers and heaters are available on request. Water is purified on site and is provided in all bedrooms and is safe to drink. Bottled water is charged extra.
Dining
Buffet, with a wide range of dishes served outdoors for breakfast, lunch and dinner which is included in the nightly room rate.
Discerning guests can dine in our a la carte restaurant which specialises in Kerala coastal cuisine.

Children
One extra bed can be provided for children up to 12 years of age. No baby sitting services are available.
Dress code
There is no official dress code. It is very relaxed and guests tend to relax in casual or exercise clothes during the day, changing into something a little bit smarter for dinner. Guests are asked not to walk around bare-chested or in swimwear, other than by the pool

When to go / Climate
Due to its elevated position, it has an agreeable climate for most of the year. The coolest times of year are from November through February but September/October and March/April are still excellent months to be there. The monsoon arrives in June and lasts until August. However, everything becomes incredibly green at this time and it’s a particularly beautiful time of year.
Opening and closing
The retreat remains open 365 days per year.

The retreat combats this with the burning of citronella incense and other natural oils.

Undisturbed walks (a rarity in India!) in the surrounding rubber plantation, seeing how rubber is produced. The area also includes cocoa, pepper, vanilla, coffee, cashew nut, pineapple, and papaya and banana plantation.
